Class-Thrummed Mittens WINTER 2026
| Availability: | In stock |
Thrummed mittens are a traditional style from Newfoundland and Labrador in eastern Canada. A thrum is a small wisp of unspun sheep’s wool—roving—pulled into light, airy bundles and knit directly into your stitches alongside your working yarn. As the fleece settles into the fabric, it forms soft, pillowy clouds inside your mittens. Your fingers will thank you the moment you slip a thrummed pair on!
This three-session class will guide you step-by-step through learning to make thrums, knit them into your work, and complete your own cozy pair of mittens.
You will need to be a confident beginner knitter who can knit in the round using magic loop, two circular needles, or double-pointed needles (DPNs).
Please have the cuff of your first mitten completed before the first class so we can jump right into learning how to thrum.
CLASS DATES: January 17, 24, 31 // 12pm-2pm
TEACHER: Patti Z.
*Note: Supplies purchased at Cream City are eligible for a 10% class supply discount. Because the shop does not carry a lot of fiber for the thrummed we will supply some fiber from our personal stash the day of class.
