EXPANDING YOUR KNITTING THROUGH YOGA
Yoga is the calming of the mind. When we knit, we are often meditating without
even being aware of it. This is because knitting’s repetitive nature promotes
stillness in the mind. This natural connection between yoga and knitting can be
explored more deeply to our benefit. In our modern chaotic world, it’s critical
that we develop techniques to ground ourselves and live with grace and ease.
The same applies to our knitting. In this two-hour class, we learn how to apply
yoga philosophy and practices to our knitting. We explore beginner’s mind,
intention setting, meditation, and simple movements – all focused on
complementing our knitting. Incorporating contemplative techniques into our
knitting yields tremendous benefits. After this class, we’ll have the tools we need
to develop a daily practice that more deeply integrates yoga into our growth as
knitters. No prior yoga or meditation experience is required.
The presentation will be interactive with demonstrations, guided movements,
breathwork, meditations, and time for questions and answers.
SUPPLIES – paper, pen, and a WIP.
