Class-Beyond Basics Brioche 2024
If you have been looking to expand your brioche stitch library, here’s your chance. This class will explore various brioche increases, decreases, and shaping stitches using the Tranquil Night cowl pattern by Makenzie Alvarez and will give you the skills to pursue a wide range of more complicated brioche patterns. Pre-class homework required with instructions below.
SKILLS NEEDED: You should feel confident and comfortable with the brk (brioche knit) and brp (brioche purl) stitches and with knitting in the round.
SKILLS LEARNED: increasing brioche, decreasing brioche, knitting brioche flat and in the round, fixing mistakes in brioche

50 yards of scrap DK weight of 2 contrasting colors
Fingering weight yarn in two colors; Color A: 218 yards; Color B: 200 yards
Needles & Notions:
US 3 / 3.25 mm - 24” / 60 cm circular needle
9 stitch markers and 1 unique stitch marker for BOR, tapestry needle, scissors

PRE-CLASS HOMEWORK: Please come to the first class with a swatch of knitted brioche with DK scrap yarn in the round:
- With MC of DK scrap yarn, cast on an even number of stitches for a sample swatch (at least 40 but can be more — this will be for practice)
- Knit 4 rows flat in stockinette with MC
- Don't bind off your swatch but leave it on the needles and bring to class so that you're ready to learn the stitches need for the pattern.
Classes and workshops require a minimum of 3 students. An emailed notification of cancellation will be sent 3 days before the class if the minimum is not met. In the case of shop cancellations, all registered students will be refunded the class registration fee. A refund of the class registration fee will be issued if you cancel 14 days prior to class start date. Student cancellations, missed classes, or no-shows cannot be refunded, exchanged, or transferred. All classes require an up-to-date Covid-19 vaccination to participate.
